I've been working on catching up the last couple days. I see the last post is in March. We of course know the names Blue Wizards (including an alternate form of each,) neither of which matches. Furthermore, I cannot find a similar word or name in Quenya or Sindarin. The name might be untranslated (un-anglicized) Westron, but I find this unlikely, or perhaps even Black Speech, since it seems to share similar sounds, but otherwise that seems the most unlikely of all!

As a possible tidbit for the future, I came across this the other day when in the Barrow Downs on an alt. At the end of the Wandering Shade quest line (which as an aside is one I very much enjoy. I think that the Shade's poetry is just great!) the Shade in Bree speaks to the player, with his final words being, "Seek the black rock..." No further context is given. However, the mention of shades of men and black rocks brings to mind the Stone of Erech. Am I alone in wondering about this?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023923485108098592.post-22066096455300536772012-04-27T13:29:14.454-05:002012-04-27T13:29:14.454-05:00I think this cult have something to do about the c...I think this cult have something to do about the cancelled Tokien's "The New Shadow" book. The story of this book would be during the reign of Eldarion (son of Aragorn).
See more here:
http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/The_New_Shadow

Is this one more easer egg created by the Turbine's lore lovers?eldarionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15956119184578029410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023923485108098592.post-61299186903185855752012-03-30T17:56:14.089-05:002012-03-30T17:56:14.089-05:00Nice info indeed! The last time I killed the Balrog in the Rift I think I was level 60, and we had already wiped so many times on him I was probably too cranky to pay any attention and just glad to be done with it lol.

*Looks at Joel* - We need a Rift run one of these days.McFarlanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10608573995128752916noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023923485108098592.post-42419712683273884912012-03-30T14:40:23.264-05:002012-03-30T14:40:23.264-05:00Ah, it has been so long since I've done the Ri...Ah, it has been so long since I've done the Rift quest, that I did not even notice. For most MMORPGs, Fantasty = Wizards = Awesome, and since Middle-Earth only had five wizards, it makes sense for LOTRO to use them all.

This is not the first reference to the Blue Wizards in LOTRO. If you kill the Balrog in the Rift, you can turn in a quest item to Rivendell that causes a cutscene. Gandalf then explains to Elrond that the Balrog was imprisoned by "two of his order" before they "vanished into the East".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2023923485108098592.post-48205793526498464952012-03-29T19:06:41.421-05:002012-03-29T19:06:41.421-05:00Oh, the Plaza! Now you've made me go back and look again, and remember how much I miss it... What a wonderful corner of the Internet.

And this is a fascinating tidbit! I haven't gotten to the Brown Lands yet, but I don't mind this being spoiled because I might have let it slip past without noticing. Indeed there are many possibilities if they decide to explore what happened to the Blue Wizards!Elinneanoreply@blogger.com
